A quiet place to attend to your life with God.
I offer spiritual direction for people seeking a more attentive, honest, and integrated relationship with God.
Through prayerful conversation, silence, and reflection, spiritual direction creates space to notice what is stirring within you, how God may be present, and what invitation may be emerging in this season of your life.
Online spiritual direction is available for adults throughout the United States.
I’m Gavin.
I am a trained spiritual director and theologian with a Master of Divinity from Baylor University’s George W. Truett Theological Seminary. I am also a husband and father of four, and I know that the life of prayer is often worked out amid work, relationships, responsibility, and interruption—not apart from them.
My approach to spiritual direction is shaped by Christian theology, contemplative practice, and sustained interest in the relational and embodied dimensions of spiritual formation.
I offer a hospitable and attentive space for people who want to explore their lives with God without being hurried toward easy answers.
I often companion young and lay leaders, students, LGBTQ+ Christians, and those navigating seasons of deconstruction and reconstruction, among others.

What Is Spiritual Direction?Companionship for the life of faith.
Spiritual direction is a practice of prayerful companionship centered on your experience of God and grounded in the conviction that God is already present and at work in your life.
A spiritual director does not prescribe a spiritual program, make decisions for you, or attempt to solve every difficulty. Instead, the director listens with you, asks thoughtful questions, and helps you become more attentive to the desires, relationships, patterns, and movements shaping your spiritual life.
A session may include conversation, silence, prayer, reflection on Scripture, or attention to what is arising in your ordinary life.
Spiritual direction is less about acquiring more information or producing a particular spiritual experience and more about noticing how God may already be meeting, forming, and inviting you within the life you are actually living.
My Approach
Our lives with God cannot be separated from our bodies, relationships, histories, communities, desires, and patterns of attention.
Spiritual life involves the whole person.
Our conversations are grounded in the life of Christ, Scripture, prayer, and the Christian tradition.
Christian
Spiritual direction creates room to slow down, listen, and attend to what might otherwise remain hidden beneath noise, habit, or urgency.
Contemplative
We pay attention to how relationships and communities shape your experience of God, yourself, and others.
Relational
The spiritual life is not merely intellectual. We may also attend to emotions, physical experience, patterns of response, and the ways your whole person participates in life with God.
Embodied
You are not expected to arrive with the correct answer or a clear spiritual insight. Uncertainty, silence, longing, grief, doubt, and unresolved questions are welcome.
Spacious
You May Be Seeking Spiritual Companionship Because...
-
Practices or beliefs that once felt sustaining may now feel dry, confusing, distant, or difficult to inhabit.
-
A transition, decision, loss, relationship, or new season may be raising questions that require patient attention.
-
Young leaders, lay leaders, and those in ministry often need a place to attend to their own life with God apart from the expectations of those they serve.
-
Students and young adults may find spiritual direction helpful while navigating vocation, identity, relationships, and their place within the church.
-
Work, marriage, parenting, caregiving, or other responsibilities may leave little room for a spiritual life that seems to require quiet and margin. You may be seeking practices of attention that fit the life you actually have.
-
You may want a space outside your ordinary relationships where you can speak honestly about faith, doubt, desire, disappointment, and hope.
-
You may be questioning inherited beliefs, moving through deconstruction or reconstruction, or trying to understand a changing relationship with the church.
-
LGBTQ+ Christians may desire a prayerful and non-coercive space to speak honestly about faith, belonging, relationships, and their experience of God.
Spiritual direction does not require a crisis. The desire for deeper attention may be reason enough to begin.
